Betts Maternity | Ault Park

One 30-weeks-to-the-day, soon-to-be-Momma. One laughing, soon-to-be-Dad being so thoughtful with his wife. The distant hum of a lawnmower. The perfect April evening. Not a speck of humidity in the air. A warm, slow sunset peaking through a thin veil of clouds. This Ault Park maternity session with Sam and Aaron was seriously so refreshing! It could not have been more perfect for these *three*!

Joy. If I could sum up Sam and Aaron’s session in one word, it would be joy. Joy of being able to celebrate this huge milestone in their family’s life. And joy of socially distanced outside time (it was a bit ironic that Ault Park was the most crowded I have ever seen it)!

There is this beautiful yet brief season before two becomes three that is remarkable to witness.

It is almost like watching this white, puffy cloud full of normal everyday moments, coupled with brand new and never-before-experienced possibilities, all glued together by these ginormous bands of enduring love. This cloud is just hanging out with these new parents. Sometimes, it is barely a wisp in the wind. And occasionally, it reminds them they something big is really happening. My favorite part? It is my privilege to capture just a little bit of that magic on camera. I have seen it with every single one of my maternity couples. And it inspires me every single time.

I am so proud of all of the soon to be and newly appointed parents out there during these past few months. With an unprecedented way of life, I continue to see the beauty, love, and patience pour out from you all. Even if it doesn’t feel glamorous, or easy, or even manageable at times, you are all doing your very best and that is what counts.

I cannot begin to imagine the hard choices you have already had to face. Cancelling celebrations and showers. Rewriting your birth plans due to social restrictions. Having the perseverance and straight up grit to move through all of these tough decisions with a smile on your face. I am in absolute awe. Sam + Aaron, you two inspired me so much at your session. I left your maternity session at Ault Park with my heart feeling lighter than it had in days. You two, with your love for each other, for your newest addition, and for the beautiful love of laughter and life you embody was truly remarkable. Thank you for that! I am keeping you in my prayers and my love goes out to you.

Virtual hugs,
Rach

P.S. Aaron, thanks for dropping the knowledge about Capoeira–I totally looked up some videos Friday night and it was really cool to watch!
