Bright sunlight sparkling off neighborhood snow drifts. The even drip drip drip of icicles melting in the warmest sunshine of the week. A cozy home, lovingly filled with memories and joy. Clean lines. Pops of color. And a nautical welcome for George! I had the pleasure of  meeting and photographing the Kapcar lifestyle newborn session at their beautiful home in Lakeside Park!

I just can’t get over how expressive George is at such a young age!

We got sleepy smiles.

We got admiration for his beautiful Momma.

We even got pure surprise!

I have recently been drawn to mirrors at my in home sessions. And I think it is because they are such a good metaphor, reflections. We are standing right in front of a mirror. We can only see the here and now. The present moment, reflected back to us. The chaos of the day. The smile we give ourselves as we head out the door. A brief moment of our present reality. And then in a flash, it is gone. When we capture a glimpse into your life, in your home, on one day, the beauty of photography allows us to cherish those moments for years.

We catch the littlest smile from your newborn son. The impish grin from your daughter old twirling to Moana songs. The kiss you share with your husband in the home you are building together. There may be just one single moment in time that we experience this beauty. But, photographs will keep those moments alive forever. They become part of our family legacy.

When your kiddos are all grown up. On your 25th wedding anniversary. These moments of joy and beauty can be relived over and over again. And that, my friends, is the reason I love doing this. Even amidst the beautiful chaos of your long days of today. Capturing these moments can help us cherish them when we realize our years are shorter than we ever thought possible. Megan, Alex, Lucy + George, thank you for inviting me into your home to share these first newborn moments.
